Through both primary and secondary research, we approached an independent study of the NYC hospitality market, the pervasive impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and global practices and policies in markets that appear to be positioned for some version of a recovery from the global economic compression adversely affecting public health safety and consumer confidence, international travel and tourism, business travel and spending, domestic mobility and spending, and the financial stability of many service business.


Diversity and inclusion, particularly with respect to gender, is increasingly being appreciated by family businesses across the globe as essential to optimizing talent and ensuring the future success of their organizations. Originally coined by Mao Zedong but popularized by NY Times journalist and author Nicholas Kristof, the expression, “women hold up half the sky,” has spurred a movement whereby many businesses are re-examining the underutilized talent resources in whom a fresh investment holds the promise of powerful returns.
